LAHORE:

An additional district and sessions judge sought comments on Friday from the Factory Area SHO by August 30 (today) on a petition by a man seeking the registration of a case against his wife whom he accuses of drinking, gambling and coming home late at night.

Petitioner Qasim Bhatti said he had married Nadia Kamal, an American expat, three years ago. He said they initially had a happy married life but then he found out that his wife used to frequent clubs in America where she would gamble and drink.

He said his wife had now started coming home late every other night. On August 4, he said, his wife did not come home so he went looking for her. He said he found her driving under the influence.

He said his wife then called the police and had him arrested. “But the police let me go when they realised it was a domestic issue.”

He said his wife and several of her men friends had threatened him with dire consequences if he did not divorce her. Bhatti said he had visited the Factory Area police requesting them to register a case against his wife but they had refused. He requested the court to direct the SHO to register a case against his wife.
