LAHORE:

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has acquired approval under Air Navigation Order (ANO) 145 and 147 from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), becoming the first Pakistani airline in South Asia to achieve both aviation standards.

The programme was initiated by the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (Saarc) countries under the South Asian Regional Initiative programme. The objective was to align European Aviation Safety Agency standards with aviation regulations in all member states.

The CAA teams performed audits of PIA’s engineering, maintenance and training facilities before issuing the ANOs. The achievement is a prelude towards acquisition of international approvals such as the European Aviation Safety Agency 145 and 147.

The ceremony was attending by Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Aviation Shujaat Azeem and CAA Director General Air Marshal (retired) Muhammad Yousuf.

Who trusts PCAA? I don't think their certificate is accepted anywhere in the world. Like all other state institutions of Pakistan, they have major political appointees which makes them politicized and untrustworthy.
