QUETTA: The outgoing Chief Justice of Balochistan High Court (BHC) Qazi Faiz Isa has said the issue of enforced disappearances is of utmost importance and his court had disposed of 164 cases out 194. There are 30 cases pending in the BHC.

A Full Court Reference was held at the BHC building to pay tribute to the CJ. The newly appointed Chief Justice Ghulam Mustafa Mengal paid a rich tribute to Qazi Faiz Isa.

“The court gave preference to the cases of missing persons in Balochistan. I made my utmost efforts to resolve these cases in a better way. Almost all the cases were disposed of, excluding 30 cases which are in pending,” the former CJ said. He gestured towards incoming CJ Ghulam Mustafa Mengal and said, “I hope the remaining cases will be given due attention.”

Justice Qazi Faiz Isa said lawyers played a pivotal role in the restoration and protection of democracy in the country. “Lawyers should continue to play their due role for the protection of democracy within the constitutional framework,” he said. “I will continue my struggle to serve justice to the suffering people of Balochistan,” he said.

The former CJ remarked, “It is unfortunate that people read the Holy Quran and Constitution but do not try to implement their teachings in their way of life.” He added, “these are not only books and pieces of papers. They teach us the way of life and make a good society with justice served equally to poor and rich.”
