Press Release August 29, 2014

KALLARKAHAR/LAHORE:

A FuelWatch Challenge was organised by Volvo Trucks and VPL Ltd in the DG Khan Cement Factory in KallarKahar.

The challenge included training on fuel efficiency and a truck driving competition involving rules of FuelWatch. A prize distribution ceremony was held in a hotel in Lahore.

Participants included truck drivers from Lucky Cement, BestwayCement and DG Khan Cement.

The activity was extended to train and develop drivers so that they could contribute to fuel-saving, minimizing operating costs and reducing impact on the environmental impact.

The competition allowed drivers to experience advantages of FuelWatch in an entertaining and exhilarating manner.

The winning driver of the challenge in the off-road category will compete in the Global Volvo Trucks Challenge in Sweden in September.

Jonas Gadolin of Volvo Group Truck Sales and Marketing and JVs APAC said proper driver development could help save up to 20 per cent of the fuel cost.

FuelWatch is a fuel monitoring service created by the Western Australian Government and has now become a popular service across Asia.

It was first introduced in Asia four years ago.

Companies will benefit from the FuelWatch challenge as it helps increase fuel efficiency, will lower long term operational cost due to better trained drivers and improve driving skills.
