Canola enrichment: Council to aid oilseed cultivation

Canola hybrid seed will be provided to farmers at 25% (Rs300/kg) of the price of the imported seed

ISLAMABAD:


The Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (PARC) has prepared a plan to launch a promotional campaign for oil seeds cultivation in Potowar and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa during Rabi season this year.


The plan is prepared with the consultation of national partners Pakistan Oilseed Development Board (PODB), National Rural Support Programme (NRSP) and Provincial Agriculture Research and Extension Departments.


Canola hybrid seed will be provided to farmers at 25% (Rs300/kg) of the price of the imported seed.


PARC Scientists and field staff of PODB, NRSP and Provincial Agriculture Research and Extension Departments will provide technical guidance to farmers during plantation and better crop management.


The plan will also facilitate farmers in harvesting and threshing through inviting private service providers.
