About 159 students of Islamabad Model College for Girls, F-6/2 were awarded degrees and shields on Tuesday for outstanding performance in B.Sc, B.A and BS computer science.
The fifth annual convocation and prize distribution ceremony was held in the well-decorated college auditorium.
Minister of State for the Capital Administration and Development Division Barrister Usman Ibrahim was the chief guest.
He addressed the audience and congratulated the degree holders and their parents. He appreciated the results IMCG, F-6/2 has shown throughout its history and said that the students owe their success to the institution and its staff.
Over 150 students were also awarded prizes consisting of shields and certificates for best result in academics and showing good performance in co-curricular activities.
About 15 students were awarded with Role of Honour, while four were awarded gold medals. As many as 90 teachers were awarded with certificates on producing 100% results in session 2010-12 and 2011-14.
Principal Rehana Rasheed stated that the institution was started as middle school in 1984 and reached the status of a degree college within a short span of time in 1991. “In 2006, we successfully started Bachelor of Science and the four years BS Hons. programme in Computer Science in affiliation with University of the Punjab,” she added.
Ibrahim stated that the students graduating from this college should owe their success to their hardworking teachers.
“You are going to enter
in your practical life and I am sure that you would use your intelligence and knowledge for the betterment of this country,” said the minister.
On a lighter note, the state minister added that the age of this institution and age of his political career was the same, and he wished it the best of luck and prayed for its success.
In the end, he congratulated and bid farewell to the outgoing principal for successfully completing her tenure at the college.
