SWABI:

Jamaat-e-Islami’s Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Ameer Professor Ibrahim said on Friday that his party would resist any move to dissolve the provincial assembly, even if it meant supporting the opposition.

While addressing various party meetings in Swabi, Ibrahim said the no confidence move against the K-P CM was part of the struggle to secure the future of the assembly.

He said there were constitutional steps to shift power and the JI would oppose any tactics that go against them.

He also said that the long marches of the PTI and PAT directly affected the situation in K-P and appealed to both parties to remain tolerant. Ibrahim said protests were their legal and constitutional right, but advised them to respect certain boundaries.

The professor underlined that JI also had reservations over the May 2013 elections, but wanted positive reforms in election laws and would never adopt methods of protests that would exacerbate the crisis in the country.

He said the JI was playing an important role in diffusing the political tension in Islamabad. Ibrahim added JI Central Ameer Sirajul Haq was present in the capital to resolve the issue through negotiations.
