Damage control: Tarakai visits flood affected areas, assesses losses

The minister said that floods were a natural calamity and couldn’t be controlled.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Senior Minister Shahram Khan Tarakai visited flood-affected villages in Swabi district on Wednesday and assured the victims the government would provide them with the necessary assistance.


Floodwater entered Char Bagh, Sheikh Jana, Colonel Sher Kalay and several other villages of Swabi. Various houses, crops and other assets were damaged as a result.


It was a low intensity flood, but still caused widespread damage.


Tarakai visited the affected areas to assess the damage and collect information.


He assured the affected people the government would compensate their losses.


The minister said that floods were a natural calamity and couldn’t be controlled, but the government could take precautionary measures.


He directed the relevant departments to make passages and channels to allow the floodwater to drain in a way that it does not damage the infrastructure of the district.
