BAJAUR AGENCY: A Frontier Corps soldier was killed when militants launched a cross-border attack on a Pakistan army check post in Bajaur Agency, which borders the Afghan province of Kunar, Express News reported.

According to ISPR, an FC soldier embraced martyrdom when militants opened fire from across the border (Afghanistan) near Ghakhai pass in Bajaur Agency this afternoon.

Pakistan lodged a strong protested with Afghanistan over the second cross-border attack within a week.

According to a statement issued by the ministry of foreign affairs on Fridya, it was stressed to the Afghan Charge d’ Affaires that the authorities on west of the Durand Line must take concrete action to stop such incidents and prevent the recurrence of cross-border fire and physical attacks by terrorists operating from Afghan territory.

Earlier on July 31, the Afghan Charge d’ Affaires was called to the Foreign Office and a strong protest was lodged over the cross-border attack on military post in Lower Dir area last night. At least seven terrorists were killed and 9 were injured as the attack was repulsed by the Pakistan military.

On June 4, four soldiers were killed and three were wounded in an attack on a Pakistani border post in Bajaur Agency

Pakistan’s foreign ministry condemned these unprovoked attacks and said the matter had been raised with the Afghan government in Kabul and with their embassy in Islamabad.
