People in parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) are celebrating Eidul Fitr on Monday, after Mufti Shahabudin Popalzai - chief cleric of Masjid Qasim Ali Khan – announced that Shawwal moon has been sighted, Express News reported.

Eid prayers - held in Peshawar, Khyber Agency and other areas – were attended by a large number of residents.

Meanwhile, Central and regional Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will convene today to sight the moon in other parts of Pakistan.

Earlier, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Minister for Religious Affairs, Zakat and Ushr Habibur Rahman had said the K-P government does not recognise any private committee, including the one set up at Masjid Qasim Ali Khan, adding that the central Ruet-e-Hilal committee does not accept their moon sighting.

Last year, the K-P government had arrested people who announced Eidul Fitr early in Charsadda.

Can't even convince people in their province to celebrate Eid with the rest of Pakistan and yet they make tall claims of NAYA PAKISTAN.....Nonsense!

A shinning example of good governance in KPK by PTI.
