Road mishap: One killed, 29 injured as van plunges into ravine

Five of the injured were in critical condition and taken to Ayub Medical Complex.

BALAKOT: A man was killed while 29 other passengers, including women and children, were injured when a van plunged into a roadside gorge near Kapi Gali, Sanghar Mor, around nine kilometres from Balakot, on Tuesday.

The 30 passengers, who were all from the same family hailing from Akora Khattak, were coming back from Naran after a picnic when the accident took place, said the police. According to eyewitnesses and police, the driver lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a sharp turn at high speed, as a result of which the van skidded and fell into the ravine.


Iranullah, son of Zaibullah, died on the spot while the others, including eight children, were shifted to Balakot Hospital from where they were referred to King Abdullah Teaching Hospital, Mansehra. Five of the injured were in critical condition and taken to Ayub Medical Complex, Abbottabad due to the severe nature of their wounds.
