Curbing grey traffic: PTA, FIA seize nine illegal gateway exchanges

Two persons were arrested and are in FIA custody for further investigation.

KARACHI: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) along with the Federal Investigation agency (FIA) seized nine functional illegal Voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) gateway exchanges during two raids in Sialkot, a press release said on Tuesday.

According to details, joint teams of PTA and FIA carried out the first raid at flat number 103, Khan Plaza, Rangpura Chowk, Sialkot and confiscated seven illegal VoIP gateway exchanges, two CPUs, two PTCL broadband DSL connections and several SIM cards.


The second raid was conducted at Green Town Bogra, Sialkot. As a result, two illegal VoIP Gateway Exchanges, two CPUs, two PTCL broadband DSL connections and SIMs were confiscated. Two persons were arrested and are in FIA custody for further investigation.
