RAWALPINDI:

Three members of a family, including a woman, were killed over a land dispute in Gujar Khan on Monday.

The deceased were identified as Faisal Mehmood, 35, Danish Mehmood, 22, and Fatima Kaneez, 52.

Investigation officer Aslam Shahzad said the deceased were killed by three armed men who were their relatives. He said Muhammad Sajad, Muhammad Ehtisham and Muhammad Imran allegedly opened fire on the deceased when they were visiting the disputed land.

The bodies were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital Gujar Khan and were handed over to their family after the post-mortem.

Gujar Khan Police Station SHO Akbar Abbas said the police have registered a First Information Report against the three suspects, who are currently at large. He said the police have conducted various raids and hoped that the suspects would be arrested soon.

Shahzad said there was an old enmity between the two families. The two sides, he said, have killed each other’s members in the past.

The investigation officer said the head of the bereaved family was injured when his opponents attacked him in 2013. The cases, he said, are pending in an anti terrorism court.
