Trailer overturns: One dead, three injured

Irfan said the truck driver, identified as Mohammad Zaheer, was drowsy and in a hurry to reach his destination.

A man lost his life while three others were injured when a speeding 22-wheeler trailer overturned near Sabzi Mandi early Friday morning.


Giving details of the incident, Sabzi Mandi Police Station head constable Mohammad Irfan said the incident took place at around 8:05am when a 22-wheeler truck belonging to the army overturned near Sabzi Mandi and fell on two cars. A man was killed and three others injured in the incident.


Irfan said the truck driver, identified as Mohammad Zaheer, was drowsy and in a hurry to reach his destination. The driver was later arrested.


Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences spokesperson Dr Ayesha Eshani said four people were brought to the hospital. “One of them had already died while the other three had minor injuries and have been discharged after treatment,” she said. Eshani identified the deceased as 26-year-old Azizur Rehman, a driver of one of the vehicles.
