FAISALABAD:

City Police Officer (CPO) Dr Haider Ashraf conducted a surprise visit to the Police Lines mess and canteen and after verifying the veracity of the complaints had ordered the canteen and mess to be renovated.

A police spokesperson said that the renovated premises would be inaugurated soon.

Separately, as many as 12 officials from Faisalabad Police Lines on Thursday protested against dismal service standards at the lines’ mess and canteen. One of the protesting officials told The Express Tribune that the mess and canteen were exceedingly dingy.

He said that food supplied to the mess and the canteen was of inferior quality and had rendered a number of people sick.

“We have complained to our superiors time and again about quality and hygiene standards at the mess and canteen but our complaints have not been addressed.”

He said it was unfortunate that their complaints had been ignored so long.
