KARACHI: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) staged on Wednesday a protest outside the Karachi Press Club against Israeli aggression in Gaza and demanded Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to play his due role in providing support to Palestinians.

Hundreds of PPP workers, activists and leaders participated in the rally, chanting slogans and carrying banners expressing solidarity with Palestine.

Addressing the rally, PPP Senator Raza Rabbani said that the entire nation stands behind Palestinian people who are facing brutal Israeli bombardment, which is in its ninth day. More than 200 people, including women and children, have been killed in the attacks, he said.

Rabbani claimed that Prime Minister Nawaz had restrained himself to only issuing statements in support of Palestinians instead activating the foreign office and bureaucrats to play their part on the diplomatic front.

He also criticised the Arab League (AL) and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for not playing a strong enough role in helping Palestinians. Instead of playing their part in supporting Palestinians, the AL and OIC are only appealing to end the massacre from Israel, he said.

He said the role of nations that raise voices against human rights violations across the globe is disappointing and their silence on Palestinian deaths is also disturbing.

Rabbani said that the PPP had a special relationship with Palestinian people since the time of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, who called for unity among Muslims to combat Israeli terror. He added that the party would continue to support Palestinian people.

Coordinator to Sindh Chief Minister on Human Rights Nadia Gabol said that

Israeli aggression was not only an issue against Muslims but had become a humanitarian crisis. She said that the PPP was ready to provide medicine and other necessities to Palestinian people, and appealed for donations from people in order to send relief goods to the Palestinians.

PPP Karachi Division President Qadir Patel said that it was unfortunate that no influential voice was being raised against the Israeli brutality. He said that the Government of Pakistan should focus on the issue of Palestinians, instead of the issues of Imran Khan and Tahirul Qadri.

Meanwhile, the prime minister termed Israeli atrocities against Palestinians in Gaza as "genocide", in a statement.

He said the crimes against innocent civilians -- women, children and elderly people -- are unparalleled in the recent history of the world.

Nawaz also expressed disappointment over the silence of the international community against this injustice.

IN THE NAME OF ALLAH, THE ONE WHO BENEFITS, THE FORGIVING AFTER SIN. Although according to the holy Quraan, Allah the Glorious and Exalted has given or ppromised a holy land for the children of Israel, at the same time why cannot all the people of Gaza be airlifted to some other welcoming place?

Army is fighting a war, innocent Pakistani people of that area are forced to leave their homes and are now displaced. Some of them are trying to come and live with their relatives in Sindh and Karachi while Sindhi nationalists are "arresting" these IDPs by checking inbound buses from up country.

Who has given these sindhi nationalists right to arrest anyone? Who has given sindhi nationalists right to stop any pakistani from visiting or living in sindh?

Forget Gaza, PPP should protest against these sindhi nationalists.. in fact rather then protesting it should take action against these law breaking Sindhi nationalists as PPP is in power in Sindh so its their duty to deal with law breakers..
