MoU signed: ICCI, HEC to work for enhanced industry-academia linkages

The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) and the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed to enhance industry-academia linkages, said a press release.


HEC Executive Director Prof Mansoor Akbar Kund and IICI President Shaban Khalid signed the MoU.

The ICCI and the HEC agreed to carry out joint research in academic institutes by setting up incubation and skill development centres to produce knowledgeable and skilled workforce according to needs of the market trends.

Under the agreement, the ICCI will help contribute financially for development a demand-driven curriculum for schools and universities.

The ICCI will also offer internships to the university students in the local industry as well as in the corporate sector.

Prof Dr Ahmed termed the agreement a positive step which will benefit the students. He urged for early implementation of the MoU.

Khalid said that the collaboration will help strengthen the industry-academia linkages besides developing a curriculum to produce a demand-driven human resource.
