KARACHI: Imran Rafique will lead the Pakistan U17 team during its tour to England in August, announced the Pakistan Cricket Board on Friday.

The team was formed by junior chief selector Basit Ali and his panel after conducting trial matches in Lahore.

“My aim is to groom players for the U19 2016 World Cup; there is plenty of talent in the Pakistan U17 squad which will play in England,” Basit told The Express Tribune.

Hassan Khan will be Rafique’s deputy during the series, while the rest of the team members are Gauhar Hafeez, Zeeshan Malik, Mohamamd Umair, Syed Muzamil Shah, Ammad Alam, Ahmad Sultan, Hidayatullah, Faraz Khan, Muhammad Sultan, Muhammad Umar, Sameen Gul, Ikramullah Niazi and Aqib Khan.

Pakistan will play three one-dayers and a three-day match against England U17 on their tour, which starts in August.

Their first match will be a warm up against Invitational XI on August 12, while their first one-dayer will be played three days later. It will be followed by two more 50-over matches on August 17 and 19 after which the three-day match will be played from August 22-24.
