ISLAMABAD: In retaliation to Imran Khan’s onslaught against him and his father former chief justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Chaudhry, Arsalan Iftikhar approached election authorities on Monday to file a reference to de-seat the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) chief.

Arsalan lashed out at the PTI chief, saying he should be disqualified as a member of Parliament for not having "good morals".

He has sought copies of nomination papers Imran filed with the ECP before contesting in the 2002 and 2013 general elections.

"I believe totally that he grossly violated article 62 D,P, F read with 63 (2) of the Constitution – by not proving himself as a truthful person having a good moral character therefore he has rendered himself to be disqualified to be member of parliament," Dr Arsalan said, while speaking to the media outside the Election Commission Office on Monday.

Arsalan had filed a petition with the ECP office to request nomination papers and asset details of the PTI chief, according to Express News.

“I have requested the ECP for a copy of nomination documents of Imran Khan,” the former chief justice's son said.

"Imran Khan accused me of certain things for which he did not have evidence when I was given the position of vice chairman in the Balochistan Investment Board."

"I believe in documents, in concrete proof," Dr Arsalan said, adding, "I do not go by hear-say, I will not accuse a person of being corrupt based on hear-say."

Arsalan claims that Imran has not made any mention of his third child in his nomination papers, where one has to declare details of all dependents.

“In his nomination paper, he put the names of two of his children – Salman and Kasim. There is also another child – Tyrian Jade Khan – perhaps he has not disclosed her name," Dr Arslan alleged, while speaking to reporters.

Arsalan is likely to take up the issue of Imran's moral turpitude, presenting a foreign court order regarding his alleged child out of wedlock.

Following his talk with the media, he distributed copies of the reports he had attained.

Imran, once a staunch supporter of Iftikhar, now accuses him of involvement in rigging of last year’s general elections.

On July 6, The Express Tribune had learnt that the former chief justice decided to adopt legal course against Imran Khan for hurling serious allegations—rigging in general elections 2013—against him.

A close aide of Iftikhar Chaudhry told The Express Tribune that the former top judge has made his mind to sue Khan for dragging him in the controversy without any evidence. “A notice is almost ready to be sent to Imran Khan, “a family member of former chief justice confided toThe Express Tribune.

During the last days of his tenure as top judge, Chaudhry also served a contempt notice to PTI chief for terming the returning officers’ role in the general elections as “sharamnaak”.

Terming Imran Khan’s allegations as baseless, the former chief justice said that a chief justice has nothing to do with general elections. It was Election Commission of Pakistan’s duty to appoint Returning Officers to perform election duties, said Iftikhar Chaudhry. “Leveling the accusations without evidence is not appropriate. Bring proof on this count,” he had said.

Nadir | 9 years ago | Reply This is so funny. All this is well trodden and very old territory that did not bring results when MQM and others tried it before. These are old pre-1999 era tactics that PMLN has not shed, even though the world has moved on. It is also clear to everyone that PMLN is egging this on through pushing channels to take him on their talk shows, even though these very channels were previously distributing materials about his corrupt practices. This further reinforces the nexus between ex CJ and PMLN despite protestations to the contrary.
