KHAIRPUR:

A young boy was booked in a kidnapping case by the police and a hearing was held before additional district and sessions judge, Naveed Hussain Kolachi.

The 11-year-old boy, Saifullah Alamani, son of Abdul Salam Alamani, was produced before the court from the Khairpur central jail, while his parents who were also allegedly involved in the case remained at large.

However, human rights lawyer Zahid Soomro appeared before the court and appealed to constitute a medical board to determine the boy’s age. He also raised the question of how a minor could be implicated in a crime as heinous as kidnapping. After hearing the arguments, the court adjourned the case till July 10.

The police had arrested the boy over charges of abducting Muhammad Katohar. An FIR was registered on February 6 upon the complaint of Malik Dino Katohar of Mustafa colony, Khairpur. Meanwhile, ASI Faiz Muhammad Narejo has also booked the boy in a separate case of theft.
