Explosion: Six of a family die in gas cylinder blast

Gul’s wife, mother, two daughters, son and cousin were among the deceased, said the official.

Six members of a family, who died when a gas cylinder exploded in Jamrud, Khyber Agency a day earlier, were laid to rest on Wednesday.


A political administration official said the incident took place inside Sharif Gul’s house in the remote area of Walo Mela after Iftar on Tuesday. Six family members were killed in the ensuing explosion while four others were injured. The room where the blast occurred was also destroyed.


Gul’s wife, mother, two daughters, son and cousin were among the deceased, added the official. Those injured were rushed to a nearby hospital where their condition remained critical till the filing of this report.


In another incident, three members of one family were injured when lightning struck a house early Wednesday morning. Residents of Teddy Bazaar said the incident took place during heavy downpour around Sehr when lightning struck Gul Noor’s residence, injuring his daughters and son.
