LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court on Tuesday sought reports from the federal and provincial governments on an application for a joint investigation team to investigate the alleged abduction of Major (r) Mujahid Azeem Tariq and his son Ali Tariq.

The major’s wife, Naeema Tariq, had filed the application in her pending petition seeking the recovery of her husband and son.

She said the law enforcement agencies had failed to trace their whereabouts. She said all of the agencies had said that they did not have custody of the father-son duo nor had any information regarding their whereabouts.

The petitioner asked the court to constitute a joint investigation team comprising officers of all law enforcement agencies. Justice Anwarul Haq gave the governments two weeks to file reports on the application.

The Military Intelligence and Intelligence Bureau had earlier denied custody of Ali Tariq and Major (r) Azeem Tariq.
