Contempt plea: IHC seeks reply from HEC chief

Reply is on contempt petition filed by official of HEC for non-compliance regarding regularisation of his services.

Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday sought reply from Higher Education Commission (HEC) chairman on a contempt petition filed by an official of the commission for non-compliance regarding regularisation of his services.


IHC judge Noorul Haq Qureshi directed HEC Chairman Dr Mukhtar Ahmed to appear before the court on next hearing the date of which will be fixed later.

The petition has been filed by Anis Sadozai, deputy director academic requested the court to initiate contempt preceding against the HEC chief for not implementing the court order.

The counsel for the petitioner Shoaib Shaheen maintained that former IHC Judge Riaz Ahmed Khan had ordered the HEC chairman to regularise his client who was appointed deputy director academic on contract in 2009.

The petitioner’s counsel informed the court that the HEC chief seems reluctant to obey the court order.

He said that the court had ordered former HEC chairman Javed Laghari to regularise his client, but he did not comply with the court order and later he was retired.
