Omer was returning from Germany when his family was shot at due to old enmities

RAWALPINDI: An armed person on Thursday gunned down a young man Omer Masood, who had returned from Germany, and his father Dr Masood at Katcheri Chowk Rawalpindi.

According to police, two brothers Omer Masood and Usman Masood were returning home from Germany after many years. They were picked up from the Islamabad airport by their family and on their way home unknown gunmen opened fire in their vehicle (licence number LEC-6846) near Katcheri Chowk, in the jurisdiction of Civil Lines police station. As a result, 30-year-old Imran Masood and his father Dr Masood Anwar were killed on the spot, while the younger brother Usman Omar, 25, was critically injured. Their mother, Tahira Masood, remained unharmed.

Civil Line police filed an FIR against unknown suspects and started investigations. Police suspect that the family was attacked due to an old enmity.

A relative of the deceased said that Imran Masood was killed due to a matrimonial dispute as he was supposed to get married next week.
