ISLAMABAD:

Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid on Wednesday said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) head Dr Tahirul Qadri were the strategic partners of Taliban.

“Imran Khan used to share the ideology of the Taliban but now he has become their strategic partner,” he said, addressing the media after attending an education expo.

“On the other hand, Dr Qadri is targeting the Constitution of Pakistan but the government will face all three,” he added. He said while the Taliban
were attacking defence institutions of the country, the
PTI chief Imran Khan was
attacking democracy.

While talking about PAT chief Dr Qadri’s announcement to return to Pakistan on June 23, he said people of Pakistan would not become part of any conspiracy and would thwart any such attempt.

The information minister said Dr Qadri just wanted to create some drama like the one he did during the 1990s when he claimed that an attempt had been made on his life. “But later on, court proved that his allegations were false. Once again, his lies will be exposed,” he added.

It must be noted that the PTI has already started a campaign against the government on allegations of rigging in the 2013 general elections whereas Dr Qadri has announced that he will return on June 23 and kick-start ‘people’s revolution’ against the government.

Dr Qadri has recently forged an alliance with Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and is upbeat to start a revolution against the government.

The PAT chief has said that the current parliament has come into being after the violation of constitutional provisions including Articles 213 and 218 of the Constitution and it is obligatory on the people to push out the current government and system.

Peace talks with TTP

Talking about peace talks with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), the minister said that the government had kept its doors open for those who wanted to engage in peace talks, but that those who choose the gun would be dealt with accordingly.

“Bringing back peace to the country is the top priority of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government and for that matter state’s power will be used against terrorists,” he added.
