PESHAWAR: Denmark has begun providing developmental assistance worth $50 million to Pakistan for education and socio-economic development over the next three years.

The focus of the aid would be on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), Federaly Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and Balochistan.

This was stated by the Danish ambassador to Pakistan, Jesper Moller Sorensen, during his meeting with the traders’ community at the residence of Senator Haji Muhammad Adeel on Thursday.

Sorensen said Pakistan is an important country and ally of the world to fight the global war on terror.

“People from Pakistan have suffered a lot in the war against terrorism,” he said.

Moreover, he said, the only way to get away from this situation would be to promote education in the country.

Keeping in mind the fragile law and order situation of K-P and FATA, Sorensen said that he can’t officially get Danish companies to invest in K-P, FATA and Balochistan.

“I see many opportunities for Danish companies in the country,” he said.

However, he later added that “due to security concerns,” he cannot follow this through.

During the meeting, Haji Adeel said that Pakistan is being punished for 9/11.

“Islamabad is fighting a war against terrorism and hundreds of people have been killed in the war which has been imposed upon us,” he said.

He further said that Pakistan wants to promote bilateral trade relations with Denmark and Danish investors could benefit from investment opportunities in the country, particularly in K-P.

Denmark. Population 5 million. Army: tiny. Nuclear weapons: none Pakistan. Population: 190 million. Army: huge. Nuclear weapons: yes

And then we take aid from this tiny tiny country whilst crying about western freedom of speech and how much they hate us. We have a national day to celebrate being a nuclear power, and then become a beggar the next day.
