Facilitating pilgrims: ‘Electronic monitoring system being introduced’

The minister said that Turkey has provided meningitis vaccines.

Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Muhammad Yousaf has said that electronic monitoring system was being introduced to facilitate the intending pilgrims.


Talking to newsmen after attending a religious function here at a seminary on Sunday, the minister said that under the government’s new Hajj policy, 57,000 applicants would be processed this year and the exercise would be completed by May 20. He said that a total of 127,000 people had applied under the government Hajj scheme.


The minister said that Turkey has provided meningitis vaccines, which would be administered to the pilgrims free of cost.


Yousaf said that maximum facilities would be provided to Hajj pilgrims this time with the provision of a better bus service for them in Saudi Arabia.


The minister said that a new draft Hajj policy has also been finalised.
