Rains: Landslides cause road closures in Azad Kashmir

According to the Met Office, more rain was expected in Muzaffarabad over the next 24 hours.

Landslides prompted by rain caused closure of many link roads in Muzaffarabad, Bagh and Rawalakot districts on Monday.


Link roads in Chakriyan, Machyara, Rashyan, Sudhan Gali and Kalyari in Rawalakot remained cut off for traffic after rain caused mud and landslides.

The upper reaches of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) also witness light snowfall. The rain brought respite to the people who were sweating through long sizzling weeks.

According to the Met Office, more rain was expected in Muzaffarabad over the next 24 hours.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department Islamabad, the highest recorded temperatures were 19 degrees Celsius in Muzaffarabad and 14 degrees Celsius in Neelum and Leepa valleys.

The Met Office said that Authmuqam received 16 millimetre (mm), Havayli 13mm and Muzaffarabad 21mm rain during the last 12 hours.

According to the Met Office, plains in AJK will witness light winds during the next 24 hours.
