The number of registered Twitter users has reached above 165 million. Biz Stone, the co-founder of Twitter, said the expansion of social networking would closely track a rise in personal mobility as devices such as smart phones replace traditional computers.

“I would like to see a lot less people hunched over computers in their offices in five years,” said Stone, 36.

Celebrities have been tweeting about the tsunami in Indonesia. Hollywood actor Tom Cruise and Canadian singer Justin Bieber have offered their condolences to the tragic victims of tsunami in Indonesia.

“Our hearts go out to the people of Merapi and Jakarta,” Cruise tweeted.

“Just found out about the earthquake in Indonesia. Everyone please pray for the people there,” Bieber posted on his Twitter page.

Other stars who reached out to the victims included members of music band the Jonas Brothers. Nick and Joe Jonas tweeted, “Indonesia I love you be strong”.

In the world of fashion, the issue of Marie Claire magazine blogger slamming “fatties” was among the top trending topics on Twitter last Wednesday, with many vowing to end their subscriptions to Marie Claire.
