ISLAMABAD: At least 26 people were injured in two separate road accidents in the Kallar Kahar area.

A passenger coach fell into a ditch near the Kallar Kahar Interchange toll plaza on the motorway, injuring 20 people.

The incident on Wednesday was blamed on brake failure.

The Islamabad-bound coach from Faisalabad was supposed to stop and drop off passengers at the Kallar Kahar Interchange when the brakes failed.

To avoid hitting the queue of cars at the toll plaze, the driver steered the coach to the emergency lane and ended up hitting a small ditch. The injured passengers received multiple injuries and were shifted to Fauji Foundation Hospital, Kallar Kahar for medical treatment.

In the meantime, a minibus (LRJ-5063) carrying students from villages in the Dhoke Dabri area fell into the deep ditch, injuring six students. Driver Ibrar Hussain of Dullah village fled the scene and has been booked.
