ISLAMABAD:

Two men were killed and at least five others injured in a clash between two groups near Bhara Kahu late on Tuesday, according to the police and hospital authorities.

All the dead and injured belonged to the same group from Athal, a village located around eight kilometres east of Bhara Kahu. They were allegedly shot at by a rival group after things went sour during negotiations over a property dispute, said the sources.

However, the Bhara Kahu police had not registered a murder case till the time this story was filed on Wednesday evening.

According to details, members of the Athal group had gone to Bhara Kahu just before midnight to negotiate over land and the possession of a car with members of the Raja Nasir group.

Both groups are engaged in property dealerships and recovering or seizing possession of lands in the villages around Bhara Kahu.

The talk escalated into a clash in which the Raja Nasir group allegedly opened fire on the other group.

Changez, 30, and Faizan, believed to be between 18 and 20 years of age, died on the spot. Medical authorities at the Polyclinic Hospital said the two men were dead on arrival, with bullet wounds on the chest and abdomen.

Five others were critically injured in the incident and rushed to Polyclinic Hospital for treatment.

One unidentified man, who was shot in the head, was shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences for neurosurgery. Currently on a ventilator, his condition remained critical on Wednesday.

Another man who was being kept in the Intensive Care Unit has now recovered and is stable, said a doctor at Polyclinic on Wednesday afternoon. Three of the five injured were shifted to a medical ward after their conditions stabilised, he added.

Bhara Kahu SHO Sattar Shah did not respond when approached for comment.
