Development: Sialkot hospital to be upgraded

SIALKOT: Gujranwala Commissioner Khawaja Shamail Ahmed on Wednesday said the the government had approved the upgradation of the 400-bed Sialkot Allama Iqbal Memorial Teaching (AIMT) Hospital.

He said Rs2 billion had been released under the Annual Development Programme (ADP) for this purpose.

Talking to newsmen, he said several development projects budgeted at Rs45 billion were being completed in Gujranwala under the ADP by the government. He said construction of three medical colleges was in the final stages.

Later, the commissioner inaugurated the children’s park at Sialkot Fort.

He said renovation and rehabilitation of historical the Sialkot Fort was underway.

The commissioner directed the Sialkot TMA to ensure the fort was preserved.

He said the chief minister was taking keen interest in the socio-economic development and beautification of Sialkot. The commissioner said Sialkot would be made a model district.
