City bleeds: Six bodies found, four others shot dead

Political worker succumbs to injuries during treatment at a hospital.

KARACHI: Three supporters of a political party were among the six people whose bodies were found from different parts of the city on Wednesday. Meanwhile, a member of the Shia Action Committee and a worker of the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) were among four people shot dead.

The bodies of the three Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) workers, who had been abducted earlier, were found from different locations in district West. All three victims were residents of Pakistan Quarters, Garden. They had reportedly been abducted on Tuesday evening. Their families claimed that they were abducted by plainclothes personnel.

The body of the first victim was found near Teen Hatti, within the limits of Liaquatabad police station on Wednesday morning. DSP Wajahat Hussain said that the deceased was identified as Faraz, 28, son of Fayyaz, who worked as a laboratory assistant at Karachi University.

A few hours later, the other two bodies were found near Mewa Shah Graveyard. Pak Colony police station SHO Munir Chandio said that the victims were identified as Mohsin Saeed, 22, and Murtaza aka Habib, 25.

Separately, a young man was found dead from Korangi Industrial Area.

In a separate incident, a woman was found dead in North Karachi, within the limits of Khawaja Ajmer Nagri police station.

Abdul Quddos, son of Jumma Khan, was found dead near Lasbella. Gulbahar police officials said that the deceased had been strangled to death.

A member of the Shia Action Committee was killed when armed motorcyclists opened fire at his vehicle in Nusrat Bhutto Colony. A 10-year-old boy, Jamil, who was passing from the area, was also wounded in the attack. He later succumbed to his injuries during treatment at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Pirabad police station SHO Fasihuz Zaman said the deceased, Ejaz Hussain Shah, 40, son of Najaf Shah, was the target. The officer said that the police were investigating the case from two different angles - sectarian and extortion.

A participant of the Youm-e-Hazrat Abu Bakar Siddiq (RA) rally was shot dead in an act of target killing.

The Youm-e- Hazrat Abu Bakar Siddiq (RA) rally was carried out by ASWJ from Lasbella Chowk to Tibet Centre on MA Jinnah Road. Soldier Bazaar SHO Sohail Khan said the two participants, Amjad Hazarvi and Saeed, were travelling on their motorcycle when armed motorcyclists targeted them. As a resultant of the firing, Amjad died on the spot while Saeed and a passerby, Zubaida, were wounded.

In an unrelated incident, a milk-supplier, Asghar Ali, 25, son of Mohammad Yousuf, was shot dead in North Nazimabad.

Meanwhile, an in-charge of MQM's sub-wing, Muttahida Organising Committee, Shaikh Muhammad Tahir, succumbed to his injuries during treatment at a hospital. Police officials said that the deceased was injured in an attack in Bengali Para, Ibrahim Hyderi, on Tuesday.
