Corruption charges: NAB arrests Mardan DSP

The case of illegal assets was unearthed following various complaints against him.

PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Friday arrested a DSP presently posted in Mardan for allegedly acquiring assets worth millions of rupees illegally. The case of illegal assets was unearthed following various complaints against him. These included illegal detention of innocent people reported with the Peshawar High Court while he was serving as SHO Hayatabad. Taking notice of the issue, the court directed NAB’s director general to investigate. In compliance with the directives, the NAB authorised an enquiry which was subsequently converted into an investigation. An FIR was also lodged against the accused. Findings of the investigation established that properties worth millions of rupees were purchased during his tenure as SHO.
