SAHIWAL: A day after Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif took notice of the alleged gang rape of a 16-year-old orphan girl in Sahiwal, the police claimed to have arrested the main suspect, Express News reported on Wednesday.

Six weeks ago, an orphan girl was allegedly raped by six men in the Nawahi village of the city. The other five suspects had been arrested earlier.

On April 15, Shahbaz had ordered the police to arrest the alleged rapists within 48 hours.

The girl was taken from her house to an unknown location where she was allegedly raped and video-taped. She was purportedly blackmailed by the suspects that if she informed the police about the incident she will be publicly shamed as the video will be shown to her entire village.

The Punjab chief minister had also suspended SHO, DSP and investigation officer yesterday for their negligence in the investigation regarding the gang rape.

Mohd Ashraf | 9 years ago | Reply Dear Editor ET, I am a Malaysian citizen. I love visiting the unfamiliar regions of Pakistan at intervals. In mid April this year,my nephew and I got the visa, from the Pakistan High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, for a 13-day trip.We had programmed a 4/5 day trip to the Neelum Valley of AJK.On two occasions we had posed the question of whether there was any specific permission requirement in order to visit AJK.The visa official there assured us that since we had a visa for our overall trip, we could go anywhere ,including AJK tourist spots. So on 18th.April we hired a taxi to travel to Muzzarabad,While registering at Sangam Hotel we were asked to produce some sort of permission card to visit AJK.Of course we did not have any, being assured as we were by the Pakistan visa issuing official at Kuala Lumpur.Soon 3 AJK officials came to the hotel to listen to our predicament.Unfortunately they also turned out to be unsympathetic, saying that the official in Kuala Lumpur had misinformed us, reiterated that AJK WAS NOT part of Pakistan! That we HAD TO LEAVE and get the permission card from the AJK offices in Islamabad. Feeling terribly let down, we hired the same taxi to return to Rawalpindi the same evening. for an additional Three Thousand Rupees.

@WomenProtectionBill: You initially contested that mixing of men and women without blood relations should not be allowed and thats what most of us responded to. RE: NADRA Chip...You have some serious sense of humor, Bro. People are dying of famine in Pakistan and u want the Govt to invest in 4/G Data Readers linked to NADRA database. Ah!!! I hope u r in no decision making position of any sort for fund spending, including your home :)
