SAHIWAL: A day after Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif took notice of the alleged gang rape of a 16-year-old orphan girl in Sahiwal, the police claimed to have arrested the main suspect, Express News reported on Wednesday.
Six weeks ago, an orphan girl was allegedly raped by six men in the Nawahi village of the city. The other five suspects had been arrested earlier.
On April 15, Shahbaz had ordered the police to arrest the alleged rapists within 48 hours.
The girl was taken from her house to an unknown location where she was allegedly raped and video-taped. She was purportedly blackmailed by the suspects that if she informed the police about the incident she will be publicly shamed as the video will be shown to her entire village.
The Punjab chief minister had also suspended SHO, DSP and investigation officer yesterday for their negligence in the investigation regarding the gang rape.

There are arrests but no one get punishment. They case will die down as time passes. This is the tragic situation in Pakistan.

She does not need male dependence for her successful career and life. I can see few who oppose this because they know they can’t fulfill their shameful desires without exploiting those women those depend on them. In Pakistan 90% woman who leave their home face severe harassment either on work Place or at their educational institutions. Women can be a doctor, engineer, scientist and businessman and they can become without depending on males. What if these were female professors and students?? This happens in every institution even at workplace to get promotion or bonuses. Instead of suspending police officers, better start reforming the police system. The police system set up by british raj has failed to deliver, policy makers need to realise that.
@women protection bill. This is 21st century not Stone Age era. For a few sick minds you can't term all sane socialising men and women as facilitators of rape. Even 3 year old gets raped. Was the baby socialising in park with men or wearing provocative cloths? In this case the girl was kidnaped from home. How is your remedy even productive in such cases? Don't justify such nonsense remedy. Target the sick minds not sane ones and punish them. Inbuilt fear amongst those who feel they can get away with fooling the system. Make stringent laws, fast track court and quick time bound justice delivery system. Set an example this behaviour won't be tolerated, shame the culprits. Instead of targeting them you want to punish those who are law biding good citizen. You can't just jail the society in segregate men women groups, ban youtube, social media etc for selective negative act. If you do, you are just pushing your country backward than forward towards progress.

May Allah forgive me as I am part of this by keeping my silence. The culprits should be hanged in public. This kid is an orphan. Just a thought of what if this kid was ours hits like an arrow in the heart.
Women harassment and Protection Bill is Needed In which No Man and women company be allowed in public places (Parks, Restaurants, Transport, University, colleges, work Places etc) those have no blood relation. By this 95% chances of rape and harassment can be eliminated.
It is more important for the media to follow what happens to those arrested?
So it only took the notice of CM to give justice to the victim. Our institutes are so dysfunctional that they can't do anything on their own.
