PESHAWAR:

A polio campaign for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) will aim to inoculate 710,132 children.

The polio eradication campaign was inaugurated by the Production and Livelihood Development Department Secretary Farukh Siar at the FATA Secretariat.

Fata’s health department is carrying out the drive in the tribal areas with the help of Rotary International, World Health Organization and Unicef.

The campaign will have three active days while the last day will be reserved to immunise those children who are missed in the vaccination drive.

At the inauguration, Farukh Siar said the campaign will be covering all agencies except North and South Waziristan along with a few areas of Frontier Region Bannu.

He said for a target population of 710,132, they have constituted 2,398 teams out of which 2,325 will be operating through vans while 73 are fixed.
