SWABI: Five people of a family, including a minor, were killed and two others were injured over a family dispute in the remote Gadoon area of Swabi early Monday morning.

According to Gadoon DSP Mushtaq Khan, Zar Hagia Bibi, a resident of Kaab Ghani, told the police her cousin Fazal Amin broke into their house after midnight when they were all sleeping, and opened fire. Five members of her family were killed on the spot while she, along with a five-year-old, was injured.

She identified the dead as Jameel Ahmad, his wife Zarmina, their son Javaid Ahmad, his wife Nizakat Bibi and their three-year-old son Haryan. Their other son, Farhan, was injured.

Initial investigation revealed that Nizakat Bibi was allegedly in a relationship with Amin but then eloped with Javaid Ahmad 12 years ago. Devastated by the betrayal, he left the country. A year ago he came back and started to threaten the family, warning them that he would take revenge.

The DSP said after the incident neighbours rushed to the house but by that time the accused had fled. The bodies and injured were taken to Civil Hospital Topi.

DSP Mushtaq said they raided three houses in the area but Amin was nowhere to be found. He assumed the accused has left Gadoon for an undisclosed location.
