FAISALABAD:

Five people, including four women, were kidnapped and a 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped in the city on Saturday.

Police said that Waheed Akram and his accomplices kidnapped a woman, identified as Baji Bibi, from 446 Bypass Road.

Another woman, Robina, was kidnapped by Shahbaz and his accomplices from Chak 202-RB, they said.

They said Kashif and his friends adducted a woman, identified as Daulat Bibi, from Chak No 70-JB.

A girl, Misbah, was also kidnapped by Kashif Rafiq and others from Johar Colony and a man, Piran Ditta, was abducted by Sajid Hamid and his accomplices from Samanabad.

Police have registered separate cases and started efforts to trace the kidnapped people.

Meanwhile, a girl was raped in Tandlianwala while another escaped the assault by raising the alarm in Chak 256-RB, police said.

They said accused Umar Hayat, a resident of Tandlianwala, took a 16-year-old girl to a deserted place and raped her.

Raheel Arshad, a cousin of the girl, told the media the teenager was on her way to a local market when Hayat caught her.

“He took the girl to a deserted house and raped her at gunpoint,” Arshad said. “He also beat her for resisting.”

The Tandlianwala station house officer (SHO) told The Express Tribune that a case had been registered. He said police were now waiting for a medical report. He said a police team had been tasked with arresting the suspect.

In Chak No 256-RB, a girl child foiled a rape attempt by shouting for help.

Police said the girl was on her way to fields when Shahbaz and an accomplice caught her.

“However, the girl raised a hue and cry and succeeded in attracting the attention of a few passers-by. That forced the attackers to flee,” police added.

A boy, identified as Kaleem Akhtar, also escaped “sexual assault” in the Saddar area, police said.

They said Kaleem Akhtar, a resident of Chak 215-RB Usman Town, was going to market when three men caught him and took him to an unfamiliar place and tried to sodomise him but failed when the boy started crying out for help and attracted.

Police later arrested one of the suspects, identified as Yasin, said the Saddar SHO.
