‘Pakistan is a second home for Chinese investors’.

LAHORE:

Work on a collaborative project between the Punjab government and Chinese companies to set up two coal-based power plants of 660 megawatts each in Sahiwal will be started in May, in light of decisions taken during Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s recent visit to China.

Addressing members of his delegation in China, Sharif said the coal power plants in Sahiwal were of historic importance. He said the project was proof that the government was committed to eliminating load-shedding. He said they would soon be able to produce electricity through using indigenous coal, which would promote the mining industry.

The chief minister said the installation of coal power plants in Sahiwal would provide electricity to domestic consumers, and for agriculture and industrial purposes.

Speaking to the heads of Huaneng Shandong Power Corporation and Shandong Ruyi Group in Sanya, Sharif said increasing trade and economic cooperation between Pakistan and China was good for both countries. He said China had become the second biggest economy globally and Pakistan wanted to benefit from Chinese technology.

Earlier, a delegation of the industrial group NORINCO met the chief minister at Bao, during which cooperation in energy, infrastructure and transport sectors was discussed. Sharif said Pakistan has become a second home for Chinese investors.

Sharif said deep brotherly relations have existed between Pakistan and China for the past six decades. He said Pak-China friendship had reached new hights during the tenure of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Sharif said the national economy is improving due to positive policies of the government. He said due to the launching of bonds in the international market, the Pakistani stock market has also benefited.
