KARACHI:

The Spring Regatta began at the Karachi Boat Club on Friday with 142 rowers representing 18 schools and colleges in the event.

The tournament started with an indoor rowing competition, while the rowing heats in open waters will take place on Saturday and the finals will be contested on Sunday.

According to a Pakistan Rowing Federation official, Abdul Rehman Babai, the competitions are getting a good response from the participants.

“The opening day was for the indoor competition,” Babai told The Express Tribune. “All the rowers are training for the competition on the rowing machines. It’s more intense than the open water competition.”
