Rising incidents: Three hunters abducted in Wana

DI KHAN: Three crane hunters were kidnapped by unidentified men on Tuesday from Toi Khulla tehsil of Wana, South Waziristan, said an official of the political administration.

The kidnapped men are said to be natives of Domal, FR Bannu, and had set up camp in Khar Kanai for hunting, the official added.

On Monday, the nephew of a former provincial minister from Bannu was kidnapped from Zar Milan area of the tehsil, which borders Zhob, Balochistan. The former minister’s nephew was in the area for hunting as well.



So far, no one has claimed responsibility for the kidnapping incidents.

Following the kidnappings, the political administration cracked down on Suliman Khel and Dottani tribes, both of which inhabit Toi Khulla, under the collective and territorial responsibility clause of the Frontier Crimes Regulation. So far, 18 tribesmen have been arrested from Tank district and Wana in the crackdown, the official added.

Khyber Agency abductions

Three people have been kidnapped from Jamrud, Khyber Agency in the past two days.

Barkat Khan told journalist that unidentified people disguised as security forces raided his hujra on Monday night, and took away his sons who are 20 and 17.

Barkat said they informed political the administration about the incident but his boys were yet to be traced.

An official of the political administration confirmed the incident and informed that a resident of Khatyakhel was also kidnapped when he was en route to his home around 10am on Tuesday.

He said they had registered cases of the both the incidents and investigation was under way.
