Musical delight: Soulful sitar tunes for Pindi’s residents

To top off a beautiful rainy Sunday morning, residents of the Rawalpindi were fortuitous enough to revel in a musical session with the internationally acclaimed sitar maestro Ustad Abdul Latif Khan.

A recipient of the presidential Pride of Performance award, Khan presented Raag Pahari followed by legendary poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz’s famous ghazals “Mujh sey Pehli si mohabat mere mehboob na maang”, “Gulon me rang bhare baad-e-nao bahar chale” and received a huge plaudit from the audience. He also presented a patriotic song “Ae Watan ke Sajeele Jawano” and Chan Mahiya.

Ustad Abdul Latif Khan’s disciples, including Faryal Shabbir presented Sindhi folk songs while Umair Rauf and Waqas Sultan presented Raag Maigh Malhar.

Earlier, he shared anecdotes of his personal experiences and career with the audience.
