FAISALABAD: To explore the export potential of the country, two Swedish delegations will visit Pakistan to develop direct link with local entrepreneurs, said Tomas Rosander, Ambassador of Sweden in Pakistan while speaking to industrialists of Faisalabad.

He said that security, energy shortage and environmental issues are hampering the expansion of trade between Pakistan and Sweden. However, he appreciated the positive attitude of the Pakistani government and said the policies that are in the pipeline would make Pakistan a land of opportunities soon.

“The first Swedish delegation is expected in May this year with a number of companies marketing major global brands. It will comprise small and medium sized businesses who are anxious to expand their export business,” he stated.

The envoy said the delegation on this subject has already visited Pakistan and it will be a second follow-up visit.

“The presence of Swedish companies in Pakistan is an indicator of good bilateral trade relations and their successful operation will inspire other companies to come and invest here in this country.”

Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Engineer Suhail Bin Rashid said that the body has established a GSP Cell in the research and development department to provide the required information and guide Pakistani exporters who are intending to increase their exports to Sweden.

He also spoke of the prevailing energy crisis and said that Sweden could help Pakistan in the field of renewable energy and hydel generation where 100% repatriation of profit in foreign exchange is allowed.
