Officers should keep in touch with the families of policemen killed in the line of duty in order to rectify the problems faced by them.

This was said by Inspector General of the National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema while chairing a monthly operational meeting of senior operational officers of Lahore, Karachi, Sukkur, Multan and Quetta through video link from Islamabad, said a press release.

He said tracking systems are being installed for effective supervision of patrol vehicles and LEDs will also be installed at highways.

The IG said unqualified people often acquire driving licenses by ‘other means’ in different districts. To curb this, NHMP would set up driving schools around the country, and to make licensing transparent, the motorway police would start issuing driving licenses from Islamabad in the near future.

Cheema also gave instructions to make the 130 highways helpline more effective.
