Festivity: Canal Mela to open in Faisalabad today

Sculptures of Nusrat Fateh Ali, Saeed Ajmal, Arfa Kareem go on display.

“The inauguration ceremony of Faisalabad Canal Mela will be held at Chak 204-RB bridge on Sunday (today),” District Coordination Officer Noorul Amin Mengal said on Saturday.


Chairing a meeting to review the arrangements, he said several events including a laser show and a horse dance would be organised on the occasion.

Earlier, Mengal visited the Canal Road and told the media that work of school students would be displayed at the festival.

He said cash prizes of Rs200,000, Rs150,000 and Rs50,000 would be given to top three position holders.

“A team of experts from the provincial captial, Lahore, will judge the contest,” he added.

Models of Lyallpur’s Clock Tower, Qaisri Gate, Zila Council Building and Gumti are being displayed at the Canal Mela.

In addition, sculptures of eminent people from the city including Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Saeed Ajmal and Arfa Kareem would be on display.

The festival will go on till March 23.
