KARACHI: Addressing a solidarity rally via telephone Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain said that the Taliban are being used to destabilise Pakistan, Express News reported.

He added that four years ago his statements about the Taliban gaining influence were not taken seriously, but now he has been proven right.

He added that Pakistan’s peace and security are under threat, and it is important that measures be taken to safeguard the stability and security of the nation.

He singled out the Taliban and said that anyone who is in favour of the Taliban is against Pakistan.

MQM is hosting this rally to express support for the armed forces, Rangers and other security agencies on Sunday in the port city of Karachi.

The rally is taking place at Shahra-e-Quaideen in Karachi, where a huge crowd of men, women and children has gathered.

MQM leaders Faisal Sabzwari, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Haider Abbas Rizvi addressed the rally earlier.

“This is not a procession of a misguided few, this is a procession of those who have woken up to the situation,” Faisal Sabzwari said.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN)’s Nihal Hashmi also addressed the procession.
