Road rampage: Three of a family killed in AJK road accident

At least three people, including a woman were killed and six others injured in three different road accidents.

Freezing temperatures and low visibility have made for a good recipe for road accidents recently. At least three people, including a woman were killed and six others injured in three different road accidents on Thursday in Mirpur Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), some 180 kilometers from Islamabad.


According to police reports, in the first accident a speedy tractor  trampled over a private car RD-977  coming from the opposite direction near Mian Muhammad Town  Kakra , killing a man on the spot while injuring three women and  the driver. The injured were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Mirpur for treatment, where doctors declared them out of danger. The deceased was identified as Muhammad Iqbal, while the injured are driver Muhammad Khan, Naseema Begum, Zeenath Begum and Sadaf Begum. The police have arrested the tractor driver for investigation.

In another road accident, a rickshaw was hit by a speeding car on Kotli Road near Sector-F/1 Mirpur, injuring three women, of whom one died while being driven to District Hospital Mirpur.

Meanwhile, a container skidded off the road near Chaterpadi, some 15 kilometers from Mirpur, killing the driver on the spot. Onlookers rushed to the scene and rescued two other injured persons. The injured were shifted to the District Hospital Mirpur.
