KARACHI: Players have once again questioned the vision of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), by expressing that the Faysal Bank Twenty20 tournament should not be held in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, since the World Twenty20 will take place in dry conditions in Bangladesh.

The domestic T20 competition, which will explode into action from Thursday, is of immense importance for  Pakistan’s preparations ahead of the mega event. The players feel that conditions in Bangladesh are different than playing conditions in Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

“This  decision from PCB to host a T20 event in Rawalpindi and Islamabad defies logic” one of the international players told The Express Tribune.

“Bangladesh will have dry conditions and slow wickets whereas the conditions in the twin cities are totally different. Batting isn’t easy with circumstances favouring the bowlers.”

Another player stated that the board never takes relevant things into consideration before preparing for big tournaments.

“The top players of Pakistan weren’t consulted about the venue of the tournament,” he revealed.“It is the players who will participate in the World T20, not the officials. At least senior national team members should’ve been consulted about this event. PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf should take notice of this lapse.”

Wolves to play Panthers on opening day

Defending champions Faisalabad Wolves, led by Misbahul Haq, will be in action on the opening day when they take on Peshawar Panthers, while Bahawalpur Stags will lock horns with new outfit Dera Murad Jamali Ibexes.

Multan Tigers, boosted with lanky pacer Mohammad Irfan, will be competing with another new team Fata Cheetas, whereas among the clash of the minnows, Larkana Bulls will play their first domestic T20 match against Quetta.

One of the important matches of the day will be played between Karachi Dolphins, led by new rising wicket-keeper Sarfaraz Ahmed, and Hyderabad Hawks, who are captained by another new star of the Pakistan team, batsman Sharjeel Khan.
