India-Pakistan relations

Letter January 30, 2014
No one in Pakistan seems to know who is running the country or who decides its security and foreign policies.

CHICAGO: This is apropos Talat Masood’s article “Challenges facing India-Pakistan relations” (January 29). Both the countries have different priorities and must concentrate on those. Right now, it seems that where India wants to go and where Pakistan wishes to go are in opposite directions. They will be better off going their own ways with few expectations from each other.

No one in Pakistan seems to know who is running the country or who decides its security and foreign policies. Those who do the talking cannot execute anything as seen from the Most-Favoured Nation status fiasco and many other issues. The region will be better off if both countries keep their mouths shut and leave the talking to when conditions are more conducive. Solving the issues of their respective populations should be their priority right now
