Afsar wins Rashid D Golf event

Ends with overall score of 205 to win title and claim Rs385,000.

KARACHI: Karachi Port Trust’s Afsar Ali saved his best for the last round to clinch the Rashid D Habib National Professional Golf Tournament that concluded at the Karachi Golf Club on Sunday.

Afsar, who was trailing second round leader Waheed Baloch by two strokes, excelled for a five-under par 67 in the last round to clinch the trophy by two shots after accumulating an overall score of 205. He received a prize of Rs385,000 for winning the championship.

Meanwhile, Baloch had to contend with second position after playing the final round of one-under par 71, to give him a gross score of 207.

Abrar Ahmed, Mohammad Munir and Shafiq Masih ended on joint third with scores of 210. They were followed by Mohammad Ashfaq on 211, while experienced player Shabbir Iqbal finished with a score of 213.

Ahmed, who struck a hole-in-one during the contest, received a 1300cc car as the reward.
